Men’s culture, prevention efforts of SUD, and its impact on Collegiate Recovery – December 7, 2018

Jessica Pinti Dunson

This workshop is aimed to discuss the continuum of prevention and recovery, and how the two can learn from each other to have healthier outcomes. We will specifically look at the impact trauma has on men, and how the development of someone who has had many adverse childhood experiences may differ biologically from someone who has not many adverse childhood experiences. The workshop will then examine prevention and recovery efforts to support those who have experienced trauma and some actionable items providers can utilize moving forward to help heal and prevent future trauma. This educational experience will infuse how the culture of America, specifically American men, and the play it has on trauma, SUD and medical outcomes.
