Activities
There’s a lot happening with as a result of the Partnerships for Success funding to help advance substance use prevention in Stanly County. Here’s a snapshot of activities taking place in the community:
The Youth Drug Survey is being implemented in Stanly County Schools to obtain the best local data on youth substance use to help drive prevention efforts in the community
Stanly County Schools Middle and High School Teachers are delivering the evidence-based Botvin Life Skills Training program to help prepare youth with the social and emotional skillsets for healthy drug-free living.
Communications Campaigns with key prevention messages including “Talk, They Hear You” and “Lock Your Meds” are shared with billboards, movie theatre advertisements, sandwich boards at schools, radio advertising, and rack cards distributed throughout the community.
The project coordinates with the Project Lazarus Coalition to enhance capacity building and training efforts for substance use prevention and recovery in the community.
Take Back Events are implemented to promote the safe disposal of dangerous medicines and drugs
The PFS team coordinates Alcohol Purchase Surveys which support local efforts to curb under-age purchase of alcohol at businesses and stores.
Youth Engagement & Outreach Coordinator Kaitlin Smith leads Youth Engagement efforts through groups and activities designed to engage youth in healthy living, social and emotional living, and substance use prevention.
The Stanly County Virtual Education Series provides opportunities for community members to learn more about prevention, treatment, and recovery.
