Alianza Youth Launch Multimedia Art Campaign

What comes to mind when you think of the term “multimedia?” When the Alianza Youth Council was asked to work on a multimedia project, they instantly thought of the word ART. Many of the youth in our council are passionate artists who love expressing themselves through various forms of media. Some are poets, others like to take pictures, and some love to draw and paint. This is how the Multimedia Art Campaign was born.

The purpose of this significant project is to use art as a form of expression to create discussions within our communities regarding the key values of Alianza: Identity, Community, Culture, and Resilience. Our youth decided to encapsulate these discussions through a community mural that would contain images that represented the four values. They ultimately ended up deciding on a mural which highlights the immigrant experience. Towards the end of June, the mural painting was held alongside the community and afterwards the finished mural was transported be hosted by various community partners.

If you ever happen to see the mural being displayed at any of our upcoming locations, make sure to scan the QR code! It will take you to a website where you can see all of the work our teens put into the project, from poems to photos and other pieces of art. Can you figure out what all of the pieces to the mural mean? For a short video describing the campaign, check out this link.

We’d like to give a special shout-out and thanks to everyone who helped this project become possible! This includes: our amazing teens from the Alianza Youth Council; the Alianza and CPS team; our community partners hosting the mural both physically and virtually, and our stakeholders in guiding us throughout this process.
